Olton Bedrooms started 18 years ago started in a 12 x 12 workshop in a rear garden in Olton.
With only redundancy money and the help and advice of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Managing Director Stuart Hubert started on a journey that was to surpass all expectations.
He writes as follows:
Within the first 12 months I moved into my first premises in Lakey Lane Hall Green followed by a further move 6 months later into a factory unit with a built on shop frontage. The growth and success of the business meant a new site had to be sought and some 8 years on into a premises at Olton Wharf. After 4 years at Olton Wharf we have again outgrown the premises and are now in our factory based at Cranmore Industrial Estate.
The company has always concentrated on not just quality of product but honesty, reliability and customer service and our team is available to our customers 6 days a week.
The past 6 years has seen a major move forward with us bringing in new machinery of the highest quality, a very strict quality control programme of our own products and our suppliers' raw materials and a very tight monitoring of our costs in and out.
We have spent a great deal of time constantly bringing in new and more advanced furniture e.g. soft closing sliding door systems along with looking at ways of making storage systems that totally maximise space e.g. Our newly designed corner robe system.
Staff growth of course has been inevitable and we now employ 2 City and Guild Apprentices all at various levels to work along side a very experienced production, design, installation and management team.
Expanding Southwards
In March 2009 we launched the first Bedroom Showroom of our expansion plan. The location in Ivybridge, Plymouth is a strategic location which will enable us to provide our unique service to the Southwest. Keith Parsons is the manager of Ivybridge and he is steering it towards being a hugely successful addition to the "Olton" brand name.
Growing Pains
It didn't take us long to outgrow our Olton Wharf premises. In January 2010 we moved to our current premises at Radway Road on the Cranmore Industrial Estate. Now we have 11000sqft of floor area, consisting of showroom and manufacturing facilities.
And Finally
By popular demand, in January 2011 we added Bespoke Kitchens to our range of products. The showroom is an addition to the Bedroom showroom. Here you can choose from our extensive range of modern and traditional styles. Your every wish will be translated into 3D images.
